Nyjah Huston

Aside from drawing, skating is another activity I enjoy.  To me Nyjah is one of the best skaters out there.  He won first place in a majority of the street leagues (skate competitions) and beat out the best pros.  He also set the record for being the youngest street skater to win first place in the X Games. Forgot to mention that he's sixteen and a pro...He is one of my inspirations because he is relentless and he dedicates time to mastering his craft.  No one just becomes great over night. Heres a quote from Will Smith, " The seperation of talent and skill is one of the greatest misunderstood concepts for people who are trying to excell and who have dreams.  Talent you have naturally.  Skill is only developed  by hours and hours and hours of beating on your craft."
Heres another by Will, " I've never really veiwed myself as particularily talented.  Where I excell is ridiculous, sickening work ethic.  While the other guys sleeping, I'm working. While the other guys eating I'm working. Theres no easy way around it, your talent is going to fail you if your not skilled.  If you don't study, if you don't work really hard and dedicate yourself to being better each and every single day you'll never be able to communicate to the people or particular artistry you want."

If you guys don't know who Nyjah is watch this vid below.  Its footage from a couple of street league competitions that he won.  Also if your wondering what the name of the song is in the vid its called "Two can win" by J Dilla.  Enjoy!

  1. So talented and 3 years younger than me… *sob*
(I'm doing not skateboard, but I'm writing. Kind of badly as it is).
That also stands for you De'von.

(sorry for the bad English, I'm actually French)

  2. Hey, you're a professional 16 year old as well.
That picture is sick. Too bad he cut his hair, the drawings can have more flow with long dreads.
If you ever do an animation project with skateboarders, I hope you contact me.
It was nice meeting you this summer, I look forward to checking out more of your work.
